What does the workplace look like post Covid-19
We have been fortunate at Recruit Personnel that we could continue to work remotely as a business during the COVID-19 crisis. Having one of our staff members usually working remotely 50% of her time, we have systems in place for an electronic communication and team sharing capabilities, so the transition into a full work-from-home situation was relatively seamless.
Working with essential businesses, we were in a position to continue to supply labour and staff to those businesses still working. And now that we are back in the office, it is interesting to note how work/life after lockdown has unfolded for us and our clients.
Australia’s Chief Medical Officer Professor Brendan Murphy outlined suggested new workplace practices that could be put into place for businesses.
These include:
- Introducing cleaning products and disinfecting products everywhere. We have set up individual hygiene stations on everyone’s desks; hand sanitizers upon entry and throughout our office.
- Increased cleaning schedules. All public areas are cleaned 4 times per day.
- A change of policies to our meetings. We now schedule online video meetings rather than face to face, and internal meetings are held with social distancing rules in place.
- Shaking hands with colleagues, clients and candidates have also been put to the side for now.
These practices require commitment from all staff, for their own safety, and the safety of others. These adjustments are all part of the pathway out of the COVID-19 lockdown toward a safe workplace.
