Drafting & Estimating Officer

Our client takes great pride in offering an Australian-made product, and you could be a key player in their success by being a part of the Drafting & Estimating Team.

This combined role will see you working closely with Senior Management to design, draft, estimate and see projects through the manufacturing process to completion and delivery. 

About the role: 
  • Manage and lead a team of draftspeople and estimators 
  • Produce AutoCAD drawings and 3D drawings with Solidworks
  • Liaise with customers regarding design improvements and changes as identified and necessary
  • Liaise with production team members for prioritisation and scheduling
  • Understand the scope of work and determine key variables for cost estimates
  • Analyse plans and project documentation to estimate costs
  • Research, source, negotiate, and obtain the best prices from suppliers
  • Assess financial, technical, and operational risks of the project
Skills and Experience:
  • Ideally, have a trade background and looking to come off the tools
  • Have an in-depth understanding of the manufacturing process 
  • Experienced in designing, estimating and drafting within a metal fabrication setting i.e. stainless steel, mild steel, aluminium 
  • Proficient in AutoCAD 2D and/or Solidworks
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Meticulous organisational skills, ability to prioritize works in view of timelines
  • High attention to detail
