Estimator

Our client is excited to welcome a skilled and experienced Estimator to their dynamic team based in the Lower Hunter region. This business manufactures fabricated structural steel products for the mining and construction industries.  

As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in coordinating and preparing accurate quotations by analyzing requests for quotes and tenders, interpreting technical drawings, and understanding associated specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Quotation Preparation: Utilize your expertise in metal fabricating blueprint reading to prepare quotations with precision and accuracy.
  • Technical Interpretation: Analyze specifications and tolerances, demonstrating a keen attention to detail in the process.
  • Communication Skills: Engage effectively with Customers, Suppliers, and co-workers, ensuring clear and concise communication throughout the estimation process.
  • Metal Fabrication Knowledge: Leverage your knowledge of metal fabrication processes to enhance the accuracy of estimates.
  • Cost Computing: Use software and established rate tables to compute costs, identifying materials, purchased items, fabrication processes, and time requirements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Purchasing to collect material costs, Engineering to optimize material utilization and fabrication methods, and the Production to establish fabrication rates and options.
  • Metrics Maintenance: Keep track of metrics related to the quality and timeliness of estimates supplied to customers, as well as the win/loss ratio of estimates submitted.
  • Continuous Improvement: Regularly review and recommend updates to work centre rates and rate tables, and solicit feedback from Production to improve estimating accuracy.
